That’s a bit Vladi close, Navy eyes Russian fleet off UK

December 14, 2011

A ROYAL Navy destroyer keeps watch on a Russian aircraft carrier that sparked an alert off Britain’s coast.

HMS York was scrambled from Portsmouth to meet the Admiral Kuznetsov and other warships.

The fleet appeared unexpectedly off the east of Scotland on Monday. It was the closest Russian warships had come to UK waters for over 20 years.
