Out of an abundance of caution, Virginia Commonwealth University will be notifying approximately 300 students that they may have been exposed to tuberculosis. Margaret Roberson, M.D., VCU’s director of Student Health, and Donald Stern, M.D., Richmond City Health District director, will visit four classes to inform the students and faculty. An email also will be sent to all contacts.

The Virginia Department of Health TB Control and Prevention Program has determined that the extent of exposure is considered insignificant for these students to be considered at risk, however, screening is being offered to them through VCU Student Health.
